Notice is hereby given that: 1. On March 8, 2021, a Petition for Voluntary Annexation and an Ordinance for annexation into the City of La Porte, Indiana, was filed with the Common Council of the City of La Porte, Indiana, proposing to annex a certain territory into the City of La Porte, Indiana, which territory is more particularly described as follows: The SW ¼ of Section 7, Township 36 North, Range 2 West EXCEPT a piece supposed to contain 1.80 acres in the NW corner, lying West of the LaPorte Kingsbury Road: EXCEPT 7.83 acres in the NW ¼ of the SW ¼ of said Section heretofore platted into lots known as D.M. Subject to legal highways. 2. A public hearing will be held regarding the proposed annexation by and before the City Council at 6:00 p.m. (prevailing local time), on the 19TH day of April, 2021. The hearing will take place in Council Chambers at La Porte City Hall, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. All interested parties shall have the opportunity to testify at such public hearing as to the proposed annexation. 3. The current zoning classifications for the area proposed to be annexed is A – Agriculture and M1 – Light Industrial under the provisions of the La Porte County Zoning Ordinance. It is proposed that the annexed area be zoned as M1 – Light Industrial under the City of La Porte Zoning Ordinance. 4. A detailed summary of the fiscal plan proposed for adoption by the Common Council of services of both a non-capital and capital nature to the area proposed to be annexed, as required by IC 36-4-3-13 is available for inspection in the office of the Clerk-Treasurer of the City of La Porte, Indiana at City Hall, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, during regular business hours. The City will immediately provide a copy of the fiscal plan to any landowner in the area proposed for annexation who requests a copy. 5. The City Council may adjourn the public hearing from time to time as it deems appropriate in its sole discretion. The City Council shall not consider or adopt an ordinance for the annexation of the area sooner than fourteen (14) days after the public hearing has been concluded.
