At the last La Porte County Commission meeting on March 17, Commissioner Joe Haney stated his intent to introduce a Whistleblower Protection Policy at a future meeting.
Our employees are in grave need of such a policy to prevent their being subjected to coercion, intimidation or otherwise being thwarted in the lawful execution of duties. And I agree with Commissioner Haney that such protections do not currently exist, locally, in any form.
