Franciscan, YMCA offering free health walks

MICHIGAN CITY — Franciscan Health Michigan City is offering Wellness Wednesdays, a free family health and wellness program, through Oct. 24 (no program July 4). Registration and a stretching session will begin at 4:45 p.m. for a 5 p.m. run-walk course at the Elston YMCA, 1202 Spring St. Runners go through the Uptown Arts District and Washington Park before returning to the YMCA, which will be open for tours. Participants will receive a free, one-week YMCA pass for the first walk; a free Healthlinc sweat band for the fourth walk; and a free t-shirt for the sixth. Weight and body fat measurements will be available the first Wednesday of the month. For more information, call Kathy Workman, YMCA program director, at 219-221-4055.
