Contractor offering kids’ hospital gowns

La PORTE — During July, Redwood Roofing and Remodeling is partnering with Heroic Hearts to donate unique hospital gowns to children at La Porte Hospital and Franciscan Health Michigan City. Heroic Hearts strives to make children’s hospital stays more enjoyable by adding a touch of fun in their uniquely designed hospital gowns featuring superheroes or princesses.

For every roof, deck, bathroom, or kitchen remodel contracted with Redwood during July, the company will donate a Heroic Hearts gown to one of the hospitals. Redwood specializes in residential interior and exterior remodeling including roofing, decking, flooring, kitchens and bathrooms. For more information, call 219-444-0484.

Franciscan opens new Valpo health center

VALPARAISO — Franciscan Physician Network will open a new location in Valparaiso to serve families around the southwest side. Appointments are being scheduled for the Franciscan Physician Network Valparaiso Specialty Health Center, which will open this month at 2590 W. Morthland Dr. (U.S. 30).

The specialists at the new location are:

Dr. James Hartson, board-certified orthopedic surgeon whose clinical interests include anterior approach to hip replacement, arthroscopy of the knee, hip and shoulder; minimally invasive and revision reconstruction of knee, hip and shoulder; trauma and fractures

Dr. Zohair Ahmed, board-eligible gastroenterologist whose clinical interests include interventional endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, bariatric endoscopy and biliary disease

Certified nurse practitioner Laura Beach, who specializes in gastroenterology and whose clinical interests include gastro esophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis and peptic ulcer disease.

Disconnected compressor honorees meetMICHIGAN CITY — The Sullair Disconnected Compressor Honorees, consisting of former employees of Sullair Corporation who have resigned, retired or were fired, will have their annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Galveston Steak House. The cost is $10 at the door and includes appetizers. Donations and guests are welcome.
