Mike Schrage, chairman and CEO of Centier Bank, far right, welcomes the community to the Centier Bank Museum along with his wife, Jill Schrage, second from right, and his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren.

WHITING — Centier Bank has a long history in Northwest Indiana, and has now opened a museum for those with an interest in the banking industry.

It all started in 1895 in Whiting, when a German immigrant named Henry Schrage wanted to help his neighbors by opening a bank, according to Centier CEO and chairman Mike Schrage.
