BASS LAKE — An Isreali developer of renewable energy projects broke ground on phase one of a huge solar farm project in Starke County, part of a $1.5 billion investment in its Indiana operations over the next five years.

Gov. Eric Holcomb and Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers joined Israeli and Starke County officials on Thursday as executives from Israel-based Doral Renewables LLC broke ground on Mammoth Solar. At 13,000 acres, it will be the largest solar farm project in the nation.
