MERRILLVILLE — As Indiana legislators prepare to take up the topic of abortion next week, the state’s Catholic bishops are urging them to protect the unborn and the living, and to support both if in need.

On behalf of Bishop Robert McClory (Gary), Archbishop Charles Thompson (Indianapolis), Bishop Kevin Rhoades (Fort Wayne-South Bend), Bishop Timothy Doherty (Lafayette) and Bishop Joseph Siegel (Evansville), the Indiana Catholic Conference issued a statement this week encouraging the Legislature to consider legislation that supports and protects life.
