Meyer to perform for Pipe Organ Series

Michigan City organist Lee C. Meyer will perform during the next session of the Roosevelt Pipe Organ Concert Series on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Christ Church, 531 Washington in Michigan City. Seating is at noon for the free show, with the concert beginning at 12:15 p.m. and lasting about 45 minutes. Meyer is organist for St. Francis Episcopal Church in Chesterton, music director for Footlight Players and director of the Michigan City Community Chorus. Lee said he enjoys traditional organ music, but also likes to explore the “theater” possibilities of the Roosevelt Organ with a program of contrasting organ pieces. This includes “Preludes and Voluntaries” by Eric H. Thiman, music by Leroy Anderson and two popular standards, “Ebb Tide” and “Manhattan Serenade.” Vocalist Danielle Bilderback will assist on the program. A new home is being sought for the church’s Roosevelt pipe organ. Call 219-698-5358 for further information.
