Reins of Life to host first Carriage Driving Show

Reins of Life, Inc. has been operating since 1978 with a mission to improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy. Therapeutic Carriage Driving is one of its newest programs, started in November 2019 with three students, and now with more than 10 driving students on a weekly basis, with more added every session. The organization is inviting the public to its first Driving Fun Show on Sunday, July 24, at 9375 W. CR-300N in Michigan City. Drivers will compete in various events, and cheer on therapeutic driving students and volunteers. The show is open to all drivers regardless of previous show experience. There will be a licensed judge, and a combination of pleasure and reinsmanship classes. If you own a horse and drive, you can enter the low-key show in a variety of classes. Pre-registration is not required, and entry fees are $5 to $7. Parking and admission are free, and concessions will be available. For more details, visit reinsoflife.org, or the group’s Facebook page. The show will begin, rain or shine, at 11 a.m.
