Monarch butterflies will be heading south through the area in September as part of their annual migration. Save the Dunes will be hosting an event on Saturday at the Brewery Lodge to celebrate the migration and raise funds for protecting pollinators.

MICHIGAN CITY — Save the Dunes will celebrate the journey and migration of the monarch butterfly through the region with music and food on Saturday.

“Monarch populations are in steep decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation, climate change and pollution,” according to Betsy Maher, executive director of Save the Dunes.
