MC High School students shine at ISSMA competition
On Saturday, Feb. 25, Michigan City High School students, from left, Emray David, Kyra Krachinski, Sophia Barczak and Ashley Sparks took part in the Instrumental ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble Competition at North Central High School in Indianapolis. David received a Silver rating for his alto saxophone solo, and Gold With Distinction for a tenor sax solo. Barczak received Gold ratings for her Eb clarinet solo and Bb clarinet solo. Sparks received Gold for her mellophone solo. Krachinski received Gold With Distinction for her piccolo solo, and a perfect score on her flute solo for another Gold With Distinction. A trio composed of Krachinski (flute), Barczak (clarinet) and Sparks (oboe) also received Gold With Distinction.
