Kiosks provide employees with online access to health care

Photo by Jon GardKevin Friend, an account manager with LiveHealth Online, sits inside the kiosk at Westville Correctional Facility as he shows employees how to use the unit to talk with a doctor remotely any time of the day or night for up to 30 minutes at a time. Provided in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana, the kiosk features a blood-pressure cuff, thermometer and stethoscope to help the doctor make a diagnosis and provide a treatment plan. 

WESTVILLE — Like something out of a science-fiction movie, patients can step into the telemedicine kiosk, tap a screen to connect face-to-face with a physician, and talk about their symptoms.

The doctor can get real-time blood-pressure readings, take the patient’s temperature, measure heart rate — even write a prescription.
