MICHIGAN CITY ā€” Some common causes of injury from fireworks involve leaving juveniles unsupervised, not having the appropriate training and consuming drugs or alcohol, according to Fire Marshal Mark Baker of the Michigan City Fire Department.

The connection between fires and fireworks is difficult to prove at this time of year because fireworks are lying around in many places, but the department determined that fireworks were the most probable cause of a fire that killed someone on July 5 of a recent year, he said.
