INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mitch Daniels praised an Indianapolis woman Monday for overcoming her daughter’s grisly slaying by an estranged high school boyfriend to successfully push for a new state law that encourages schools to address dating violence.

Daniels told Debbie Norris during a ceremonial bill signing of “Heather’s Law,” named after her daughter, that he admires her for turning her personal tragedy into “something very positive and constructive.”
