Michigan City Police bring the Easter Bunny back to the neighborhoods

With the blast of a horn from a Michigan City Fire Department truck, dozens of kids were off and running to gather as many eggs as possible in the center parkway area on Pinetree Court.

The children collected candy-filled eggs placed by police officers and firefighters, and also looked for special golden eggs that brought a special prize.

Police Chief Dion Campbell said the department “recognized the continual need to build healthy relationships with the community we serve. This year we decided to go back to the roots of the Easter outreach program and into the neighborhoods of our community.”

Campbell thanked all the local citizens, out of area/state residents and businesses who "generously donated money to our department so the MCPD can make these events possible.”

Children inspect their candy after receiving the basketballs they won for finding golden eggs. While the egg hunt was going on at Garden Estates, officers and staff also distributed candy at the Tall Timbers apartment complex on Springland Avenue.
