Religion should not matter in elections

Mike Voisinet’s letter in the Jan. 27 paper criticizes President Biden as not being a “real” Catholic because his positions violate Church teachings on abortion and homosexuality. As I see it, the election was not about electing a Pope to govern the Roman Catholic Church. Whether Biden is a faithful or unfaithful Catholic, or is Protestant, Muslim, Jew, agnostic, atheist or anything else is irrelevant to whether he can follow the Constitution and execute laws of the land.
