La PORTE — Community outreach, teacher retention and vocational training were among the issues raised by those running for a spot on the La Porte Community School Corporation Board next month.

On Tuesday, six of the eight candidates appearing on the Nov. 3 ballot participated in a forum at Bethany Church. They shared their thoughts on a variety of education topics, including what they believe the district’s current strengths and weaknesses are, and what they will focus on should they win.
