MICHIGAN CITY — Violent crime was up in 2020 in La Porte County, as was the number of arrests for illegal possession of weapons, according to police. And that trend is expected to continue.

The commander of the La Porte County Drug Task Force, an initiative of the Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, says it has caused a shift in the mission of the unit.
