SOUTH BEND — For thousands of people in northern Indiana, a daily meal isn’t a choice between dishes. It’s a choice between food and crucial needs such as electricity, childcare or medicine, according to a local organization dedicated to feeding the hungry.

There is no luxury of what to eat. The choice is if they eat, said Marijo Martinec, executive director and CEO of the Food bank of Northern Indiana.
