MICHIGAN CITY — Police and prosecutors are investigating after a state audit showed about $75,000 in Michigan City Police Pension benefits were paid to the estate of a deceased woman, whose daughter continued to collect the money.

The Indiana State Board of Accounts has requested that Pamela Westphal of Michigan City repay the money, which was disbursed in the name of her late mother, “due to malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance.”
