MICHIGAN CITY — With the recent snap of frigid weather, area residents are bracing for oversized utility bills this month, and they may be getting another hit when they fill up for gas.

“Motorists should brace themselves for even higher gas prices in the days ahead, enhanced by the extreme cold weather hitting much of the country,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
