Artistic fundraiser for La Porte Police Department's first therapy K9
The newest member of the La Porte Police Department, K9 Raven, is also the department’s first therapy dog. According to the LPPD, her purpose is to assist with officer mental health, as well as community outreach, including her first school visit, below, with the life skills class at Kesling Intermediate School. Raven’s program runs solely on donations and fundraising, so the department is hosting an art fundraiser to help offset costs. Everyone is invited to complete a painting, drawing, sculpture or any artistic projection of Raven, and turn it in to LPPD, 1206 Michigan Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a $10 entry fee by June 30. One winning entry will be chosen and announced by July 1. The winner’s art will be displayed at the LPPD and they will have the opportunity to ride with Raven in the Fourth of July Parade. For additional photos of K9 Raven, visit her Facebook page. For questions or to make donations, contact Det. Ashley Adams at aadams@lpcitypd.com
