Feeding Hope a resource for families, pets in need

The Michiana Humane Society is asking residents to share what they can to help feed pets in need this Thanksgiving. “Some pet owners in our MHS family are struggling. Food insecurity could force them to make a choice between feeding themselves or their pets, or having to surrender their animals,” MHS Executive Director Johanna Humbert said. “A donation can keep a pet and their family together.” Feeding Hope, the MHS pet food resource, drops off food monthly to Trinity Church Food Pantry in Michigan City, and Meals on Wheels of SW Michigan. They are collecting smaller, unopened bags of dry cat and dog kibble, and unopened cans of wet food to support families and their pets. You can drop off at MHS on State Road 212 until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, or purchase at Brandt’s Pet Emporium on Michigan Boulevard, and they’ll hold it. Treats for cats and dogs are also welcome.
