Plane lands safely in field near Wanatah

No injuries were reported after a small private plane made an emergency landing in a field near Wanatah on Monday afternoon. At 12:45 p.m., La Porte County Sheriffβs deputies Jake Pisowicz and David Francis responded after the plane came down in a field near U.S. 421 and CR-1100S in rural Clinton Township. The airplane was located about 300 yards east of U.S. 421. The pilot of the 1965 Piper Twin Comanche told deputies the aircraftβs engines failed, forcing the emergency landing. The pilot and a passenger were not injured, according to the Sheriffβs Office. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
