Items needed for LP Rotary food pantry boxes, which are 'in demand'

Items needed for La Porte Rotary food pantry boxes

Now more than ever, Food Pantry Boxes overseen by the La Porte Rotary are “in demand” and need to be filled and restocked, according to Rotarian Becky Pressel. The kiosks are always open, and those in need can take what they need, and those who can, have the ability to add items to the stock. “We ask that you please consider items that will not freeze,” Pressel said. “Also, personal items such as shampoo, soap, diapers, cat or dog food, coloring books, crayons and puzzles may also be added to the boxes.” The pantries are located at the La Porte County Public Library at 904 Indiana Ave.; St. John’s Lutheran Church at 111 Kingsbury Ave.; and Sacred Heart Church at 130 Bach St. There is also a kiosk at the Kingsford Heights Library at 436 Evanston Road. Pressel will also accept donations at her office at 309 Pulaski St. “If it is more convenient to drop items off to me, I am happy to distribute them. Drop them off or call me at 219-393-4027 and I can pick them up. Thank you for helping those in need.”
