Remember When

Pictured is a 1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt in Michigan City at the southwest corner of 11th and Franklin. The Thunderbolt concept car was designed by Alex Tremulis, who also designed the Tucker. Only five were produced and only four remain. “The Car of the Future” included a fully retractable hardtop, which was not seen again until 1957; and electro-hydraulic push-button doors. Each of the five cars was a different color and had subtle differences, making each one unique. For information on this photo, contact mbarber@laportecountyhistory.org.
