State Prison offender firefighters donate to MC Fire Department

Indiana State Prison offender firefighter Matt Stidham and Debbie Osos, community engagement coordinator, show a Certificate of Appreciation received after offender firefighters recently donated $2,192 to the Michigan City Fire Department. The money was raised from selling wristbands to offenders and staff during a Fire Prevention Week fundraiser in October 2019. ISP has 17 offenders who have completed training with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and earned Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications. Each focused on earning the certification as part of their rehabilitation and to demonstrate a commitment to service.
