HOSA students welcome first responders to NPHS

New Prairie High School BioMed teacher and HOSA adviser Tonya Aerts, with the assistance of school SRO Deputy Paul Adams, brought in first responders from La Porte and St. Joseph counties to discuss the Heart Safe School initiative. Aerts has dedicated time and energy to the effort in honor of students Jake West (La Porte) and Mark Mayfield (New Prairie), who died on their school campus from sudden cardiac arrest. The first responders were led on a tour of the school by HOSA students, who came in on an e-Learning day to explain the strategic locations where AEDs are placed both inside and outside the school building.
