Remember When

La Porte violinist Otto Meyer is shown on a 1912 postcard. Meyer graduated from La Porte High School in 1898. He studied music in Berlin, including Grieg’s principal works with the composer himself. He toured Europe as soloist with the Bohemian Philharmonic in Prague, Berlin, London, and other cities. He taught in Berlin for two years. He gave a concert in La Porte in 1907, and toured the U.S. in 1908 and 1909. He was acclaimed “The American Violinist.” Source: Fern Eddy Schultz
