Vintage wedding gowns on display at New Carlisle museum

“Here Comes the Bride: A history of love and fashion in one small town” features 15 vintage wedding gowns, on display through July 2, in a special spring exhibit curated and presented by Historic New Carlisle, Inc. Gowns worn by New Carlisle (and nearby) brides – designed and sewn between 1905 and 1983 – are displayed, some with matching veils and original accessories. One 1944 bride, who chose silk sandals to match her dress, paid for her war-time purchase with ration coupons! A few gowns were worn by their original owners and passed down to daughters and daughters-in-law. The Historic New Carlisle Museum is located at 112 E. Michigan St. and is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ET), and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
