Suspect steals AED from South Shore train

NICTD Transit Police are investigating the theft of a Philips Heartsmart Onset AED and medical equipment from an eastbound South Shore train on Saturday, Nov. 7. The theft occurred around 1 a.m. somewhere between the 57th Street station in Chicago and the Gary station, according to police. A light-skinned male with a light beard – wearing a gray hoodie, light gray pants, blue jacket and skullcap – walked through the train and removed the AED from the wall. The AED was in a hard case with other medical equipment. Anyone with information should call 219-398-6000. All calls will remain confidential.
