A Lake Station man died Monday when he suffered a medical emergency while driving on I-94 near Michigan City and lost control of his pickup, causing it to roll over, according to Indiana State Police. A passenger in the vehicle survived the crash. About 11 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on I-94 westbound at the 37.3 mile marker, and found that a black 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was in the right lane when the driver suffered a “medical event.” The driver lost control and the truck changed lanes, and when the passenger attempted to gain control of the truck, it struck the outer guardrail and rolled over onto its driver’s side. The passenger was transported to Franciscan Health Michigan City with non-life-threatening injuries, but the driver was declared dead at the scene by the La Porte County Coroner’s Office. The right two lanes of I-94 were closed for about an hour for the investigation and vehicle removal. The victim was identified as 43-year-old Adam L. Braun of Lake Station. The Coolspring Township Fire Department, La Porte County EMS, Music Towing and Cloverleaf Towing assisted at the scene.
