Remember When

The Jewish Synagogue in La Porte was located at the northwest corner of Indiana Avenue and First Street. It stood from 1854 to 1898. Rabbis came from Chicago, and services were also conducted by Jacob Wile until his health began to fail. The property was sold to Mr. E.F. Michael and the synagogue was torn down.
