One injured when vehicle collides with train in Michigan City

A motor vehicle traveling south on Ohio Street in Michigan City struck a freight train on the CSX tracks at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Multiple train crossings in the city were shut down for several hours while the train was stopped. CSX spokesperson Sheriee Bowman said one passenger from the car was transported to Franciscan Health Michigan City with minor injuries, but she deferred all other questions to the Michigan City Police Department, which is handling the investigation. The MCPD did not immediately respond to requests for information Monday.
