La PORTE — Following the recent arrests of two subcontractors on a major project in La Porte, the La Porte County Board of Commissioners is mulling an ordinance aimed at preventing tax fraud.

The ordinance, which would amend the county ordinance on prevention of certain contractor fraud, was introduced and approved 2-1 on its first reading at the board’s April 20 meeting. It will be heard on second reading May 4.

John Carr's logic, "the City of LaPorte adopted this code in 2020 to stop contractors from paying under the table and misclassifying workers.

Contractors in the City of LaPorte bust contractors paying under the table and misclassifying workers.

John Carr, okay now I need to have this same useless ordinance that failed in the City of LaPorte adopted in the the County. "

Does John Carr believe the code that failed it's intended purpose in the City of La Porte will not also fail in the county? It's verbatim the exact same code as City Municipal Code 10-47.
