'Via Crucis': Living Stations of the Cross plays out in downtown La Porte to mark Good Friday
An actor portraying “Jesus” carries his cross down B Street past St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte on Friday evening. The Hispanic community of Holy Family Parish re-enacted the Living Stations of the Cross (Via Crucis) outside the church and in the neighborhood.

Jesus is crucified during the annual event, which begins at the church and proceeds south a few blocks before returning to the church, where the crucifixion is depicted.

Barabbas is freed by the Romans during the Passion event. According to the New Testament, he was the prisoner chosen over Jesus by the crowd in Jerusalem to be pardoned and released.
