PORTAGE — For Portage’s defense, tackling Michigan City ball carriers was like nailing Jell-O to a wall.

More than a few times Friday night, the Indians had either Wolves quarterback Gio Laurent, running back Jonathon Flemings or receiver Kaydarious Jones pinned in the backfield, only to see them get away for a gain, sometimes a big one.
