DEMOTTE — Playing in threesomes with golfers from Carmel, Westfield and Lake Central, La Porte County’s qualifiers for the Lake Central Regional rubbed elbows with some of the state’s best players Thursday at Sandy Pines.

“That was some of the best competition I’ve ever played,” Slicers sophomore Ryan Sittig said. “I was keeping up with distance pretty OK. I tell myself, just try to play your own game, but sub-consciously, it doesn’t always work. You’re playing with kids committed to college, who are going to play Division I golf, it’s definitely intimidating. You just try to go out and do your best.”
