Steve Wade

New Prairie math teacher Steve Wade, an announcer and scorekeeper at the high school since 1985, was recently honored with the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrator’s Association Distinguished Service Award for his contributions.

NEW CARLISLE – Anyone who has been to New Prairie for a varsity football game or cross country meet recognizes his voice, the pleasant, welcoming tone that is unmistakably Steve Wade.

“It’s what I’m going for, as opposed to all for us and none for you,” said Wade, the voice of the programs since the mid 1980s. “I’ve come to appreciate over the years, yeah, you want to beat the other team, but this is really a cooperative effort to be able to have a competition. The guys in other uniforms are not the bad guys. You treat them civilly.”
