For half of our local football teams, this week is the calm before the storm.

Michigan City and La Porte get a week off before starting their Class 5A sectional on the road next week. The Slicers, ranked No. 8 in the final state Associated Press 5A poll and No. 6 in the final coaches poll, travel to South Bend Adams next week. The Wolves, ranked No. 10 in the AP poll and No. 7 in the coaches poll, will go west to Munster.
