Basketball Mercy Rule

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has implemented a mercy rule for basketball, effective this season, that will start a running clock in the second half of a game when the margin reaches 35 points.

La Porte County high school basketball coaches were asked to share their thoughts on the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s implementation of a mercy rule, effective with the upcoming season, that will bring the use of a running clock in the second half of games once a margin of 35 points is reached.

Coaches, in large part, were neutral or opposed to the rule. Here is what those who responded had to say:
