Westville retained the Rivalry Stick, the traveling bat that goes to the winner of its game with LaCrosse. The Blackhawks won 7-6 despite having just eight players for the last two innings.

WESTVILLE – Baseball purists will tell you that one of the best things about the sport is that no matter how many games you watch, there’s always a good chance something will happen that you’ve never seen before.

It did Friday for Westville, which played the last two innings of its Porter County Conference contest with LaCrosse eight against nine, then had a freshman register the first hit of his high school career to score the decisive run in a 7-6 Blackhawks victory.
