Wrigley Hemphill of New Prairie won the clinching point against La Porte on Wednesday with a three-set victory at two singles in the La Porte Sectional semifinals.

La PORTE — Doing theater and choir as well as swimming and playing tennis, Wrigley Hemphill is no stranger to performing under the bright lights of center stage.

New Prairie’s No. 2 singles player starred in the closing act Wednesday in the La Porte Sectional semifinal clash with rival La Porte, rallying for a 6-7 (8), 6-0, 6-4 win over Brock Schultz in the decisive match to lift the Cougars to a 3-2 win at Kesling Park’s LeRoy Courts.
