Caiya Cooper

La Porte’s Caiya Cooper won the 200 and 500 freestyle events in Saturday’s Hobart Sectional. The Slicers senior qualified for state in both events and broke a school record in the 200 that had stood since 1995.

La PORTE – The numbers have been up on the soon-to-be replaced La Porte pool records board for a long, long time.

A 1:54.87 by Kristen Batzer stood as a Slicers best in the 200 freestyle since 1995 until Saturday, when Caiya Cooper turned in a winning 1:54.71 at the Hobart Sectional.

This one is a good egg. Great role model for the younger kids coming up. Great work ethic in and out of the pool.
