Delanie Gale

South Central’s Delanie Gale hugs a friend after a 4-3 win over Rossville in the Class A Frankfort Semistate final Saturday.

FRANKFORT — Its sketchy history in the advanced levels of the state tournament certainly didn’t evoke a lot of confidence, so it stood to reason that when South Central faced adversity in Saturday’s Class A semistate final, it would have to fend off negative thoughts from creeping into its psyche.

Nope, not once, not when the Satellites didn’t have a hit through three innings or a run through four; not when Rossville’s Avery Layton struck out five in a row; not when the Hornets led 2-0 in the third and 3-2 in the sixth.
